ANYTIME is just that, breaking free of the tempo regime and playing a host of our favourite beats in our collection. From our homegrown roots to shit we bought yesterday, it doesn't matter. What matters is the unique oppertunity to play what we love most, music.
Lynt
Get the low down, down town Lynt aka Karl Stanton has been working closely with the Melbourne breakbeat scene for over 5 years. Karl has gone from being one of the new breed of Melbourne breakbeat Djs, finding his feet behind the console only 6 months after purchasing his first decks, to supporting almost every major breakbeat act to hit our shores.
Being influenced by a host of international artists, Karl has supported, worked with and hosted most. From his first support role with breakbeat pioneer Adam Freeland to his recent warm up for the internationally acclaimed Stanton Warriors, Karl is requested for every major party in Melbourne.
From the word go Karls passion for breakbeat and DJing shot him forward quickly. In brief, Karl has run 3 weekly nights (actually more but we wont get technical), one of which is in its 4th year. Karl has hosted highly successful underground parties with internationals as well as playing internationally himself. As time went on Karl has been working with Melbourne's
biggest promotions companies and playing with some of the worlds biggest acts and continues to do so. In 2001, Karl gave up his job at a successful IT/PR company to take the role of shop assistant at Melbournes premier record store DMC Records and turned what was a small breaks section of a thriving house & progressive shop into an entire store in itself. DMC Beats is now Melbournes top breakbeat, drum & bass and hip-hop shop which Karls small, managed team of enthusiasts and DJs help him run.
Seven
Arriving in Australia four years ago with an already passionate love for Drum ‘n’ Bass, Mancunian DJ Seven quickly found his niche within the Melbourne scene as a resident at Bassix and is now one of the cities busiest and most respected DJs. Joining the Elementz crew in 2002, Seven has supported Internationals the likes of Total Science, Roni Size, Moving Fusion, Marcus Intalex, Andy C, Krust and Die, Hype and more. Alongside playing regularly for Elementz events, Seven has also showcased his skills for Local Motion, Terrain, 40Hz, Agent Mad and Sjooshi.
In 2003, Seven and Elementz-mate Fletch presented a radio show for StreetFM, relishing the chance to introduce the masses to new and exciting music, both local and international. Alongside their radio show, both DJs were hired to work at DMC record store and were put in charge of ordering all the D’n’B stock. More recently Joe Seven has joined JPS to present The Operatives Radio on KissFM. This year Seven has extended his
selection to include dubstep, hip hop and funk and craftily mixes between the genres every fortnight at Anytime.
Dust
The newest resident to join the Elementz crew, DJ Dust has been making waves in the Melbourne scene for a few years now. Humble beginnings playing monthly at Black Cat and occasionally at the Lounge and her flawless and highly technical approach to mixing led to Dust supporting some of the biggest names to grace our shores including Storm, Grooverider, High Contrast, Shy FX, Craze, Dynamite, Ed Rush and Optical, Hype, Black Sun Empire and Teebee.
Her consistency was rewarded with worldwide recognition by the organization that is the Junglist Sistaz, inclusion into the mighty Elementz Sound collective. Dust’s repertoire doesn’t stop at just DnB, extending herself with versatility in the styles of hip hop, breaks, funk and soul sets at various events and her current residency at Ume Bar and of course Anytime. |
